Click MDR sign for Miniature Donkey Registry Pedigree Bell's pedigree!

Bell is a very stocky little jennet. She is wide bodied, has good, straight legs and bone, and has the prettiest little dish face. We have always admired Bell's sire, Flight of Fancy Cardinal RG, and her grand sire, My World Winston, so we were very pleased to add her to our herd. I love this jennet but we are keeping her first foal and offering Bell for sale to keep our herd at a manageble number.  Bell has a nice round rear end, perfect bite with show quality conformation with a super wide chest to die for. She is friendly, sweet and a comical donkey to have around. She is easy to catch and handle. Bell is up to date on all vaccinations including West Nile that she just had a booster of this week. She has a negative coggins report dated 6/10/10. I updated her papers last year with her mature update at 33 ¼" tall but she grew another quarter of an inch since then and she has matured at 33 ½". If you want to add bone and a gorgeous color to your herd you should seriously consider Bell Blue before I change my mind. Bell sells open as we let our jennets rest the year after they foal so she is ready to bred to your jack. She still has her foal on her side so we will gladly take payments until her foal is ready to be weaned in October. We will gladly allow you to make payments for up to six months if needed. Bell has been microchipped and DNA tested at The Texas A& M University.

A special 'thank-you!' to my friend, Dena Wilson, who expertly handled Bell for her photo session. Without you , Dena, none of these great photos would be possible!

Grand Sire:  758's Trishaw, 33¾" Redd
      Grand Dam:  Someday's Sweet Silver, 33½" Gray-Dun

Hailey is registered as 33 nches tall but we measure her to be 33¾ inches. She was vet tested by exterior ultra sound to be open but she has not come in 'season' since we have had her so we think we had her ultrasounded too soon and that she is really in foal for a summer 2010 baby. Her previous owner had her with her jack up until 6/16/09. Her pedigree is filled with reds including LN Redsonnehi, Winchester, and Jennie Sam of Bell E Acres. She is built like a tank with a nice round rear, heavy boned and very correct legs. She is very sweet, easy to catch and easy to handle. She is up to date on hoof trimming, vaccinations including West Nile, and worming. She has a negative coggins report dated 6/18/09. The photos and videos above were taken on August 4th, 2009, straight out of the pasture. She has not been body clipped. Only her mane and bridle path were trimmed. I can only imagine how beautiful this jennet would be if she were body clipped. We may offer her for sale again after we determine if she is already in foal or not.

Update!! Hailey was vet checked on 10/20/09 by exterior ultrasound to be approxiamately 5 months in foal!

Grand Sire:  LCR Valintino 50, 32" Dark Red *MSF

Sissy is the dam of the following three foals:

1) Wit's End Kiss Me Kate, 5/13/06, dark brown jennet;
2) Wit's End Shoeshine Boy
Shoeshine Boy - copyright HAA Miniature Donkeys8/25/07, black jack.
3) Geisha Girl, 4/20/09, very dark brown jennet.

We loved Meggie Mae so well that we also purchased her half sister, Sissy. The only reason we are now offering Sissy for sale is because we have her duplicate bloodlines already in our herd. They don't come any sweeter or laid-back than Sissy. She is up to date on all vaccinations including West Nile. She has a negative coggoins report dated 9/01/09. Sissy is microchipped to comply with the new Miniature Donkey Registry rules. She has been hand bred to Windcrest Firefly for a foal due on September 6th, 2010. She is still with Firefly now and we have not observed her back in season so we feel sure she is in foal. Since Sissy's dam is red so we feel that Sissy has a very good chance of producing a red foal from this pairing.

Faith is from our breeding. We sold her dam when she was in foal and this baby was so nice that we just had to have her. We let the breeder's use their farm name as a prefix because we didn't think Half Ass Acres Have Faith would sound very nice! We have regretted selling Faith's dam who is sired by our original herd sire, Indy, so we are thrilled to add her foal to our future breeding program.

Whoopsie is registered as a 32" black jennet but we think she is a very dark brown or what we use to call a black/brown. We measured her carefully on concrete and she is measuring just under 33 inches tall. Whoopsie is a very sweet jennet...easy to catch and easy to handle. She is up to date on hoof trims, worming and vaccinations. She has a gorgeous stocky black jack by her side born on July 2nd, 2009. He has a black belly and is even black inside his ears. He has a white smudge on his nose. Whoopsie will be sold with her jack on her side now but will be sold separately when the foal is weaned. Photos and videos were taken on July 14th, 2009.

Champ is one special little black jack!! He is super heavy boned and black as night except for a smudge on the top of his nose. The inside of his ears and his belly is totally black. The photos and videos above do not do him justice. I failed to get a photo of his super wide chest showing his very correct straight legs. His papers have not been sent in so I would be glad to register him with your farm name as a prefix. You should come and see this little guy in person. You will be impressed and might think as much of him as Champ does himself! Champ has a negative coggins report dated 9/01/09.

You can purchase Charm and her foal together or just Charm and we will keep her until her foal is weaned at no charge. Free delivery within 50 miles. Charm has had two foals in her lifetime. We LOVE this little gray, brown, rose-dun, or whatever color you may think Gussy is to you. All we know is it is very different color and she is as cute as it gets! She is truly a people pleaser and everyone falls in love with her as soon as they lay eyes on her.

The minute she sees us coming she is running over to greet us. She appears to be all “gussied up” in her grayish, brownish, rose-dun, coat of many hues, and saying “come on let’s go.” She is eager to play, run, follow, and just have her nose in to everything going on in her little donkey world. “Miss Happy” should be her middle name as she enjoys everything and everyone. Big smiles appear on faces when they meet Gussy Up…..even Gussy seems to smile.

We purchased Gussy’s mother, Emerald Ridge Piper, sight unseen, about a year ago. When we went to pick Piper up we could not believe our eyes. We were already in love with this little gray donkey that was going back to our farm. She was everything we had wanted in a little gray 'no light points' jennet. She sure gave us the cutest little “grayish, rose-dun” jennet in the world. We could not be more pleased with Piper and her little girl, Gussy.

Feel free to drop by for a visit with Gussy and take a souvenir smile home with you. Sorry, but for now, Gussy is not for sale. We have fallen in love! Gussy is bff with Rocket.

If you missed the birth click here for a replay compliments of our friend, Gita, at marestare.

It seems every time we have a foal I say, "this one is the prettiest one ever!" We have been so blessed with so many gorgeous foals this year and each one is so special and unique. Rocket is another one that fits this description.

In keeping with the Patriotic week of 9/11 we wanted to name this beautiful little jennet in remembrance of that day in history. May we never forget what happened the day that has forever changed our country and may "God continue to bless America."

Can you believe we missed Rocket's birth? Yes, we left for only a few minutes to run get dinner just two miles down the road and our phone started ringing the minute we sat down to eat. The Mare Stare family was doing their usual outstanding job of notifying us that we had a jennet in labor. I rushed out of the restaurant, leaving Joe behind, and was home in 3 minutes. This outstanding little red jennet, Rocket, was on the stall floor greeting me and letting me know she was just fine and perfect in every way.

After quickly cleaning the stall I ran back to the restaurant to pick up Joe and we both came back to enjoy the beauty of Rocket, our newly born little girl.

bridget has always been a jennet we loved and we even owned her at one time when she, herself, was a tiny little girl. When we recently had the opportunity to purchase her again we did and are so happy to have her back with us at our farm. Rocket is the same beautiful color as bridget and is the "spitting image" of her mother. You see she, too, is perfect in every way. She is stocky, perfect bite, straight legs, fantastic head, and that friendly personality that we all like to experience in our donkeys.

Rocket lights up our eyes as we admire her beauty, lights up our hearts with her endearing personality, and lights up our farm as she mingles with the other donkeys that are quickly becoming her friends. Our patriotic little girl will wave true in our hearts and at our farm forever!! (that's right, she is 'Not For Sale' at this time!). Rocket is bff with Gussy Up.

Exciting News!! Moxie has been sent to Kathy Loudamy at K&K Ranch in Texas for conditioning, training, and showing! We have confidence in Kathy's ability to make Moxie a fine little show donkey! Update...Moxie is home from training and we were so pleased with the results that we sent another one of our babies home with Kathy. Our little Moxie is a perfect lady now..trained to trot practically in place beside you and well started in trail obstacles. We are just thrilled with her. We highly recommend Kathy Loudamy for training your next little champion!!

Photos above were taken on November 1st, 2008, straight out of the pasture for her three year old registration update. She measured 31" tall and we think she is finished growing!

We just purchased this little girl at the Great American Donkey Sale in August of 2009. She will turn three years old at the end of this month but we will wait for the weather to cool off before we bred her. We are trying to decide whether to cross her with Pepper or Firefly. This will be Nerissa's first foal. Thank you to Double B Farm for offering this tiny girl at the sale and giving us an opportunity to purchase her and thank you to Ed and Angela Preston for pointing her out to us and telling us we needed her or she would have slipped through our fingers.

We did not intend to sell this little girl ...
but we let someone talk us right out of her!

Eight Belles was named after the gray filly that ran to her death in the Kentucky Derby. She had lots of heart and so does this little girl. Belles is square and straight and has beautiful legs on her with lots of width and bone. Her dam has produced multiple champions.

We had no intentions of selling this adorable girl but when my great friend, Sandy Dorris, decided to have donkeys again we let her have Eight Belles since she is sired by Wit's End's herd sire that they owned for years and years When Sandy owns a donkey I feel like it is still my donkey so it doesn't feel like I have sold her at all.

Calamity is very tiny but also very correct! She is one of our sweetest jennets.

Calamity is the dam of the following foals:

1) Windcrest Calliope, 5/13/01, dark brown jennet;
2) HHAA Sweet As MO-lasses, 5/04/03, brown gelding;
3) HHAA How Big a Boy 'R Ya', 9/18/05, brown gelding.

Calamity was tested negative for pregnancy by an exterior ultrasound machine vet test on 11/18/08. Calamity is with our dark red herd sire, Firefly, now but we do not think she is in foal since she has not settled in foal since 2005. The last time we observed her in season was 3/20/09. Therefore we are selling her as a barren jennet. They don't come any sweeter and easier to handle than this jennet. She is up to date on all vaccinations (including West Nile), hoof trims and de-worming.

Oprah has outstanding conformation and no light points. She has a nice round rear and a front end on her as wide as a mack truck. She and her foal have perfect bites. She is registered as a smokey black but she is what is now called by the registration a very dark brown. She has no light points..even her belly is dark. Oprah has had six foals in her lifetime... five jennets and one jack and all of them are show quality! She is one of our very best producing jennets. Photos above were taken on November 1st, 2008, at 13 years of age. Oprah has a fallen crest but it hasn't stopped her from producing beautiful babies.

Shazam hated to be body clipped so her show careeer ended early. The two times she was shown by Kathy she placed third in NMDA Foals at Halter class at the 2005 Dallas State Fair out of a class of fourteen and was again 3rd in a huge foal class at the 2006 Houston Livestock Show. Shazam was bred and raised by Frank and Mary Williams. She has been bred to our dark spotted herd sire, Napoleon. Her first foal should be due July 19th, 2009. The delicate color of champagne and the sweetness of homemade jam all wrapped up in this precious sorrel spotted jennet. She is simply beautiful displaying her blanket of soft pink as she makes herself so available to us as we enter her paddock. She runs to greet us every time she see us and rubs against us showing how much she enjoys being with people. We have to be very careful when we leave her paddock as she would walk right on out with us. Jammy is truly a people/lap donkey.

Here we are with every kind of technology in our home and barn to help us watch for our jennets when they go in to labor. But this little one picked a very unusual time to be born….6:00 p.m. and we were not on watch at that time. We had just finished having a 2 day donkey clinic at our farm and were worn out! Imagine our surprise when we went to check the foaling monitor and found this beautiful spotted jennet still wet and just barely up on her feet for the first time. A real “toast” is due to Windcrest Tangerine Twist and Ass-pirin Acres Spectacular for a job well done with their little girl. There is not a sweeter jennet in the world than her dam, Tangerine, and Jammy has certainly inherited tons of sweetness from her mom….and wants to share it all! Jammie has a perfect bite and dark eyeliner completely around both eyes.A special 'thank you' to Jeffrey Roberts for thinking of the perfect name for this little girl! Miranda has dramatic leg garters and is a gorgeous and unusual shade of red. Miranda is a nice out cross to any breeding program. Miranda has been bred to Firefly for a May 5th, 2009, foal. Have you ever heard the expression, "Good things come in small packages?" I am now a firm believer in that old saying we've all heard over the years after seeing this darling little jennet that we named Picaboo Sweet. Picaboo is one of the smallest foals we have ever had born at Half Ass Acres. She weighed in at a whooping 19½ lbs. and measured only 19¾" tall at birth. We have only had two other foals smaller in all our years of raising miniature donkeys.

We were anxiously awaiting the birth of Moxie's first foal. We are always concerened with our maiden jennets so Moxie was no exception. She is not a large jennet nor is the sire, Napoleon, a large jack, and Sheena, Moxie's dam, is also a very small jennet. We were not surprised when Picaboo arrived so tiny and perfect.

It did not take us long to name her as I was already playing the peek-a-boo game with her and talking baby talk. She acts like she is as big as all the other donkeys and does the cutest things. We love watching her prance around, throw her perfect head back as she runs and plays and then take command of the rest of the babies in the pasture. She is small but she is mighty. She has such a 'look at me' attitude and we sure don't mind accommodating her.

I had just finished my morning check of all our pregnant jennets. Sissy had cloudy milk. I quickly came inside to post her update and then started my computer work. Approximately 2 hours later our phone rang and one of the Mare Stare viewers told me we had a jennet in labor. Much to our surprise Sissy was down and pushing out her foal. We got to her and saw the foal was hip locked. It took a little working with her to assist getting her foal cleared from the birth canal. It scared us to death and taught us a great lesson…"never let our guard down when the milk color changes." We had thought she would not have her foal for another 24 + hours since her milk was not white.

This beautiful dark brown jennet is an absolute joy to us. She has entertained us and all our farm visitors since her first day out of her stall. She is so elegant and full of herself with her high energy and very outgoing personality. We named her Geisha Girl as she has a defined beauty, entertains us with her dancing and prancing, and is very unique in so many ways. Her head is very upright, straight legs, perfect bit, and beautiful distinct color. Trying to get pictures of Geisha is nearly impossible as she comes running to all who enter her paddock. She greets everyone and surrounds them with so much attention that one is hardly aware there are other donkeys. Geisha Girl has personality plus which captures her beauty and the attention of all who come to our farm. I had to get Joe to help me take her pictures ……she kept getting right in my face. I could not back away fast enough before she was in my lap and I was laughing and playing with her rather than taking her pictures for everyone to see.

We should keep this beautiful girl to be our pasture entertainment and later one of our brood jennets.. Everyone who has visited our farm just loves to watch her perform. She does not have a shy bone in her body. Unfortunately we cannot keep every foal so we will be offering Geisha to some lucky new owner to enjoy.

This precious little jennet was no problem for us to name. We had been in a “Tizzie” just waiting for Valerie to have this foal. She had miscarried her last two foals so all eyes were on her for this birth. We had put her up in the birthing stall Tuesday morning around 9:00 a.m. as we noticed some changes in her behavior and her anatomy. It was still a few weeks before her due date but we didn’t want to take any chances with her. Thank goodness we did that because by 1:15 p.m. Valerie was in full blown labor. With baited breath Joe and I watched until it was safe to enter. Valerie was delivering her baby with no trouble whatsoever. What a relief!! She was a real pro with a textbook delivery.

In-A Tizzie described me, Joe, and the newborn foal. She was up and ready to check things out in no time at all. She was jumping and bucking as if to say, "I made it, I’m here, now show me the ropes." We have laughed at her antics as she keeps us entertained with her constant energy.

Tizzie is the most unusual color sometimes looking mostly gray and other times gray with brown tones. Whatever it is we love it and have never seen it before in our foals. She has the smallest most correct little head which her sire, Beamer, seems to pass on to his foals. We love her short, stocky body but adore her playful personality. What a fun little girl!!!! Pardon her different shades of gray but it is due to the sun going in/out while we were taking photos. Tizzie is for sale! Visit our 'for sale' page for more information.

We are happy to add this nice little jenny to our future brood jennet band. She has the most wonderful little wide 'quarter-horse' head that we so admire. Thank you to my new friend, Dena, for setting up Fifi for her photos!!! Great job, Dena, for a stress free and fun photo session!! You are the first person that has ever made me cry 'uncle.' You are my new best friend for sure now!

What a way to start the foaling season this year. We could not have asked for a nicer spotted jack. Sweet Pea and Napoleon certainly stamped him with their fantastic gene pools. I don’t think we own a sweeter jennet than Sweet Pea and he certainly has his mom’s personality. Spotz is proudly sporting his dad’s flashy coat as he runs around pestering his mom. She is being ever so patient with him.

The moment we saw him we knew he was going to be a show stopper. He has “spotz” in all the right places, and then some. His dark eyes and eyeliner just add to his beauty. This little man's spots are very dark. Time will tell if they are black or black/brown. Spotz has such a short stocky body, with nicely marked straight legs. Look at his adorable, short head….just the kind we love and so hard to find in a spot!

Ever heard people say to babies, “I’m going to get your sugar, or your sweet spot?" Well, every spot on this little guy IS sweet. We can hardly keep our hands off of him.

Sorry but Spotz is “notz” for sale at this time. We may reconsider to a show home. Serious inquires only please. Call us for more information.

Sire:  PGF Peppercorn Jack, 30 ½" Brown

Dam:  Zahm Painted Roxanne, 30 ¾" Gray & White Spotted
Grand Sire:  Zahm Painted Webster, 29 ½" Gray & White Spotted
      Grand Dam:  Scherr's Rebecca, Gray-Dun

We were so happy to watch Roxanne have a successful foaling of this most unusual and tiny frosted jack since she aborted her first foal at 10 months for no apparent reason. She did not disappoint us as she presented us with this tiny, sweet, soft and 'fluffy as a cloud' little guy. His spots are rather muted and he looks like he could be floating up in the sky with the rest of the billowing clouds. One of my friends, Julia Vaughn, suggested the name and it fits him to a tee. Thank you , Julia!

We have rarely had a foal with this unusual color and we may have to wait just a bit to see if he stays this way, or will actually frost out as he matures. Either way, he is precious and so full of love. That tiny little head just looks up at us as if to say, "I'll kiss you, too, when I finish kissing my mom!" I can hardly keep my hands off of him as he follows me around when I am cleaning his stall.

The weather has been so rainy and dreary since he was born that he has had to stay in the stall for several days. Roxanne was fine with that, as being a first time mom, she was very protective of her first live foal. I don't blame her at all...he is worth protecting. Cloud is cute as they come and he shows his love all the time to Roxanne. They have an unusually close relationship and are constantly hugging and kissing. We could have named him Momma's Boy.

Cloud is very special and he is offered for sale. Call to set an appointment to see Partly Cloudy. We don't expect he will be on the for sale page for very long.

Update! Per Leah at the Miniature Donkey Registry Partly Cloudy is a light red/gray & white spotted who may later frost out!! Thanks Leah!

Ace is a four month old black gelding prospect with no light points. Photos and videos were taken on August 6th, 2009. We are not positive about his color. He may be a very dark brown when he has shed his foal coat. His hair is sunburned red from being out in the sun. We don't know what Ace's birth height was as he was not born on our farm. We purchased him along with his mom and stablemates when his previous owner went out of the donkey business. We measured him at three months of age and he was 27.25" tall. We believe he will be tall enough to make a nice driving gelding when he is mature.

We purchased this gelding back in 2011. We taught him how to drive and we showed him and won many blues and high point...then we sold him again in 2014.

Another little spot…..The minute Gidget started her delivery of this little guy we could see it was going to be a spot. We watched with great excitement wondering about his spot pattern. As you can see in his pictures, his spots look as if he was hand painted with a little dab here, and a little dab there……those dark ears, dark eyes patches, big expressive eyes, dark hocks, and one dark pastern all make up the little guys “cute factor.” We have said he is dark gray but he has a few spots that are a bit darker and may just be black. Whatever the color, he is a real doll.

One of our viewers on Mare Stare suggested we name him Levi and it suited him to a tee. He surely wears that name very well. I can’t wait to dress him up in a pair of Levi Jeans. Taking his videos was a hoot. It was like he was playing a part in a real movie. He kept moving like he could hear the music and even did the “side-pass” for all of you to see. *See video Levi, 12 hours old* below.

It is so much fun having these babies so close together this year. We can hardly get our chores done for wanting to play with them. I should have said them wanting to play with us. It’s one big happy family in our mom and baby paddock at this time of year.

      Grand Dam:  Hauenstein's Angelica, 33" Gray-Dun

Striker is a super tiny little jack that will be sold as a gelding prospect only. We feel his conformation is not good enough to make a herd sire although he certainly is going to be tiny. He has a bold wide blaze with two dark eyes and dark eyeliner completely around both eyes. He is slowly turning into a white roan and may possibly progress to a frosted spotted white. He is as sweet as he can be. In the video below he is being lead by a young child and he is six weeks older than the other donkey in the video. We don't expect Striker will mature much over 30 inches tall if he even gets that tall. Striker is up to date on all vaccinations including West Nile. He is current on de-worming and hoof trims. He has a negative coggins dated 3/25/09. He has an almost full 4 generation pedigree with only 3 blank spots. A big thank you to my professional handler, Katie Randell, for a job well done and her mother, Maria. I could not have done this without you....thanks again! Update! Striker has been body clipped and he did roan out. He will only get lighter as he matures. He is not old enough for my vet to geld him but he will be gelded as soon as he drops and his vet bill will be added to his selling price.

Chance has already been gelded by our veterinarian on 7/15/09 and he has made a complete recovery. He is registered in the Miniature Donkey Registry as 4A's Farm Buster but we call him Second Chance. Chance was left out in the cold by his previous owner and the tips of his ears and tail have been frozen off. It doesn't make him any less loveable and he needs to go to a pet home where he will be loved and protected. Chance has dark eyeliner and a gray eye patch around one eye. He has a pointy butt and he toes out slightly in front but it only adds to his charm and makes him even cuter. Chance will never win a halter class but he will win your heart if you will just give him a second chance!

He is up to date on de-worming, hooves, and his vaccinations including East/West Enceph/Tetanus/Rhino/Influenza. We have recently microchipped him and have added the number to his transfer papers. He has a negative coggins report dated 6/09/09. Chance measured less than 31" tall on 10/31/09 and we expect him to mature in the 32 to 32.5 inch range or possibly even smaller. The photos above were taken on August 28th, 2009.

Chance stands quietly when tied. He is easy to catch if he likes you but he has trust issues with some people. Chance adores me but dislikes my new best friend! Come visit Chance and see if he would like to be your bff (best friend forever)!!

We have line driven Chance over every obstacle in our arena and he willingly tackled them all including jumps, bridges, teeter-totter, etc.! Pretty amazing for his first time ever! Thank you to Katie Randall, my nine year old handler, who ground drove Chance for the first time. A special 'thank you' to Angela Preston for giving Chance his new name!

I fell in love with Sterling when I first saw him being shown by Jon Nisson at Ass-Pirin Acres Spectacular Show in 2002. I tried to buy him then but Jack Pentland had already beat me to him. I have been begging Jack to sell him to me every since then. I finally wore Jack down and Sterling came to live at Half Ass Acres in August of 2006. Sterling and Jack have won so many awards together that I wouldn't begin to be able to list them all. He is a sweetheart of a gelding and he is all that I expected him to be and more!
